Trainer Testimonials

We asked some of our Live 2 B Healthy® trainers what interested them about becoming a trainer with us, what in particular do they enjoy about training seniors and what have your participants taught or or how have they helped you grow as a trainer?  Their answers are so inspiring to read.

First of all being my own boss. I mean, I go to the client and do my service. I don’t have to be at a facility selling, cleaning, going through training.  After 40 years, I have tackled these chores. At this stage of my career it is a fit.

I enjoy the clients of my job. They are at a stage of their life where they want exercise for a healthy life – not a 6 pack ab, a fine fanny,or  to be able to fit in a wedding dress. They want a better life. I help them accomplish that everyday.

They have taught me what I already assumed/believed – that exercise/movement is a benefit to all ages. At all stages of  our life we must continue to MOVE.  The type-intensity-focus just changes.

The people are like an extended family. Knowing them and hearing about their grandkids and vacations.  Really being able to connect and help.  Also they are so thankful for everything we do. It is awesome – never a bad day.  They taught me to stretch, and just enjoy the moment.

Having a professional Activities Asst. background, being asked to become a trainer for L2BH has given me another opportunity to share my enthusiasm and passion I have of working with seniors. It’s an absolute privilege!

Almost a year after becoming a L2BH fitness instructor, I still enjoy hearing their stories everyday.  The encouragement they, the residents feel and give and receive,  from one another ,is absolutely inspiring, especially when they

count during class! The family members, community, and staff members of Ecumen, Hutchinson are INCREDIBLE!!!  The looks in their eyes when they accomplish a goal. The commitment each resident has, to make class a part of their day makes my day!! I give high-fives to each resident after class, and they, as well as myself, look forward to that before they leave!:)

Before I was given this opportunity to become a team member for L2BH, I had never taught a class before in my life. I remember following my guide on paper for the first several weeks and then one day, I didn’t need it anymore. I remember feeling “I CAN do this.”  My residents have taught me how to be patient with myself and that it is okay to make mistakes. I also am known to have a thrown out a  few tongue twisters and laugh aloud too!! And most importantly, they count on me to help them realize their fitness potential.

improving their quality of life!

I continue to enjoy being a trainer because it’s rewarding to see them progress and gain confidence in their exercise. With their lightheartedness and sense of fun, they are a joy to be around.

My seniors have reinforced to me the importance of never giving up, living in the moment and having a good laugh!

What interested me in becoming a trainer with L2BH is that I love to work with seniors. In order to stay independent, it is especially important to keep moving and adopt a regular exercise routine. Most seniors do know that they should exercise and most understand that exercise does help manage

arthritis or stiffness in muscles and joints, but most also lack motivation or the knowledge on how to work out safely and effectively. With the help of a trainer, they can work out safely and effectively! In my classes, I genuinely enjoy the company of the residents during exercise class. Not only are they becoming stronger, but we also laugh and socialize! And at the end of class most express how they feel more energized and are in a better mood throughout the rest of the day. It’s important to socialize as that is also a vital component of living healthy. When my participants are in a good mood, so am I!

What I enjoy about being a trainer with L2BH is that my class participants enjoy exercising and they know it’s good for them. I appreciate that they are willing to try new things too with no complaints! I am also impressed at how organized and easy to navigate the L2BH website is—it is a great tool to refer to exercises and managing attendance and communication (i.e. feedback and checking in) between trainers and coordinators is outstanding.

As a trainer, my community has shown me that the needs of the residents vary. There is not one program that all people flock to, which is why I am enjoying being a trainer. I do my best to offer as many exercise opportunities as I am able to—whether it is tai chi, yoga, circuit training aerobics, strength training, etc. The community that I work in is considered a retirement community—and a little sedentary at times. But when a new program comes along with the opportunity to exercise, a lot of people opt to join. I love that they are open to a change and can be pushed and encouraged to do good for their health that way.

What interested me about becoming a personal trainer for L2BH is my passion for fitness/exercise and nutrition. As a trainer I enjoy being able to teach others how to keep active.  I like to teach new exercises that some clients may have not performed before, and giving pointers on how they can exercise outside of the classroom. I am part of a local cross fit community (Crusher Crossfit, Waconia) and they have taught me so many things, but the most important thing that has helped my personal growth as a trainer is to exercise a positive attitude (in and outside of class). My coaches at Crusher always have a positive attitude and motivate me to push myself, and I see them encourage others in my class to do the same. No matter the age, size, or gender we are all treated and motivated the same, which I think is great! I knew I wanted to incorporate that same vibe and mentality in my classroom. I want my class to feel uplifted when they leave for the day, and having a positive attitude and motivating each individual really helps.

Live 2 B Healthy® was appealing as it allowed me to combine my passion for health and fitness, and my interest in enhancing the lives of older adults through movement.

Leading fitness classes with groups of people who rarely exercise is rewarding, especially when they see the benefits.  Some of their comments: “I can finally reach down to tie my shoes, again!”, ” Your classes give me something to look forward to.”  “When I first started coming to these classes, you said I could do things that I knew I couldn’t anymore.  Well, you trainers proved me wrong!”

Seeing these groups improving, able to move with more ease and confidence, is the greatest incentive to continue as a Trainer with Live 2 B Healthy®!

The communities we interact with are effective teachers.  They teach us to:  1) Be open to adapting exercises or series of exercises to better meet their needs.  2)  Be receptive to their critiques of us  3)  Be patient  4)  Be respectful  5)  Be humble 6) Be humorous, when appropriate 7)  Recognize that we are the catalyst for their physical activity and social connection with other residents.  8) Be grateful for our own physical abilities.

Natalie Regenscheid, CPT

I graduated from college with a wellness degree and wanted to find a job related to my degree so that I could continue my education and gain more knowledge and experience, which lead me to L2BH. It was the perfect opportunity for me to pursue my love and passion for creating a deeper awareness about an overall state of well-being.

I love introducing new exercises to my participants, to persuade them that regardless of age or limitations, they CAN do it. My goal with each class is to see them smile and to hear them say “wow, I didn’t know I could do that!” or “I really enjoyed our workout!” To see them gain more confidence within their abilities to try rather than to live in fear of their limitations, makes it all worthwhile.

I’ve learned a lot more about the differences in individuals, which helps me grow as a trainer to really be able to think outside of the box and find new ways to accommodate each person. I’ve also learned that you cannot always please everyone, you need to do the best you can, listen, and be open to trying a different approach when it comes to exercise routines.

Jasmine Stanton, CPT Live 2 B Healthy

After trying to help my grandma better her health and lose her to an endless battle of cancer and dementia, I knew I wanted to continue helping others that need exercise for the mind and body more than anyone else. It’s also a different atmosphere than what I’m use too and when I get to work with the seniors, their progress, positive mood, willingness to learn, and smiles hits me in the heart and makes me work harder to help them more.
[Working with Live 2 B Healthy®] has shown me that people actually care, and want to help our seniors. There is so many benefits to health and fitness and as days go by, time passes we get too wrapped up in a go-go-go life and don’t stop to think about moms, dads, grandparents, and great grandparents and how they’re doing TODAY or what their feeling.
